Bio
J. Alex. Young holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Carleton University and a Masters in Composition from University of Ottawa. He is currently a Graduate Assistant at University of Calgary where he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Composition. He has worked as a composer for both game and film, scoring Hyperion, Günther’s Dream Mill and Ostrov (Whitefox Studio) and the documentary film detailing the effects of the St. Lawrence Seaway construction No Road Home. His current artistic compositional interests are atonalism, polystylism and the incorporation of strong narrative musical elements. The incorporation of strong narratives into both his art and scoring work allow him to compose insightful compositions for both the concert hall and screen.
